Katie Stadler is an Alexandria, Virginia based artist who specializes in watercolor art, especially portraiture. She believes every person, animal, home, or special item deserves their moment to be cherished, gazed upon, immortalized. She enjoys going beyond what one might consider a traditional portrait subject or how one might be represented.

With a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Hendrix College, and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from Cleveland State University, Katie has a unique take on how to shine the spotlight or portray childlike wonder. She began painting in college as an oil painter and a scenic designer/artist. An afternoon class with artist Riley Sheehey in 2017 demystified watercolor art, and she's explored the medium ever since.

 

Katie has previously worked in children's theater, producing commericals, restaurant management, university fundraising, bridal alterations, professional theater, and as an elementary school teacher. She has always been a person of many interests and realized she needed a business name that would include all of her imaginative objectives, thus stadlercreative.

In addition to watercolor, Katie has returned to acrylic and oil paints. She's designed three websites (including this one), and helps put the finishing touches on a home. She will help you select art or make a bespoke piece for a space. All of this work gives her immense joy and purpose.
